The BETTER Women program is a collaborative initiative between Women's College Hospital, the Canadian Cancer Society, and Summerville Family Health Team. The program provides women between the ages of 40-68 with an evidence-based, peer coaching intervention to enable healthy behaviour changes to reduce the risk of diabetes, cancer and heart disease. The lifestyle behaviours that will be addressed are physical activity, diet, smoking, and alcohol use. Patients will also be brought up-to-date on cancer and cardiac screening.
Eligible patients must meet the following criteria:
Age 40-68
Can communicate and read in English
Have been a patient of a Summerville Physician for ≥3 years
